DYF Scholarship Program

Today’s progressive world is talking about Artificial Intelligence; whereas on the contrary, there is a vital percentage of the population who are illiterate. Imagine how isolated would you feel when you know everything, but are unable to express it in the right manner just because you are unable to read and write. Yes, this is a truth for 740 million people who are illiterate globally. We got to be doing something about these displeasing figures rather than just talking them off, and that is where the Dhana Yoga Foundation is putting their time, energy and efforts as they have started DYF Scholarship Program for the underprivileged, orphan, and the blind children of Nepal. A child is the future of tomorrow, providing them the access to education will definitely change the world for a better tomorrow. DYF will be nurturing and providing all the necessary funding to the kids who are capable of achieving heights but are unable to do so, just because of lack of funds. Therefore the Dhana Yoga Foundation will be creating sufficient funds for these school children under their program called “DYF Scholarship Program”. In Nepal only 59.63% of the total population is literate Why is it necessary? We want to give a right direction to the society and these children are the face of society let’s give them the strength of pen which can win over all the odds of their life. Already life has not been fair to them when they did not have government resources to get free education. It is the need of an hour as we see Nepal ranks at 129 in literacy when compared to other countries of the world. Talking about the female literacy rate it is even lower; yes the Female literacy in Nepal is 48.84% means less than half of Nepal’s women are educated. We at DYF believe that each individual on this earth has a right to live with dignity and it is this education that will help them to have that independent and respectful life. Where these kids can read and can gain the knowledge and can fly with the wings of education and who knows they may reach to the moon one day! Let’s give wings of education to each under-privileged, orphan, and blind child… What we at DYF are doing? DYF will be providing scholarship to the children who are studying in the blind schools and also to the orphans who are living in orphanage homes in Nepal. • For Blind children – The name of the blind school is “Purvanchal Gyan Chakshu Vidyalaya”, situated in Dharan, Nepal. The DYF will be providing scholarship to these children so that they can study and can make a better living for themselves in the times to come. • For Orphan Children – Dhana Yoga Foundation will be supporting students from the “Saraswati Bal Ashram” located in Dharan, where all the education-related expenses will be supported by DYF, enabling these kids to have a brighter and educated tomorrow. $1per day or $30 per month, you can help these children to pursue their dreams… How we are doing? DYF will be partnering with Local NGO in Nepal who has a similar mission and vision to support the education of homeless, orphans, blinds, deaf and handicapped children. Local NGO will identify the students who will receive funds for their education and other education-related expenses. Local NGO will also monitor the progress of the programs and will give updates and reports to DYF on regular basis. At the grassroots level? It is just the beginning of the scholarship program where we are funding around 10 children for their education, books, uniforms, and other amenities. Gradually as we will collect sufficient funds we will be sponsoring education for many more children. We will be associating with the orphanages, blind homes, and other government schools as well which will enable us to channelize the funds and helping these kids to find a right school for their education. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world “ - Nelson Mandela

Cure Blindness Program

Globally 1 in every 3 people who are blind is due to cataract… Source - Researchgate And do you know? Approximately 80% of all vision impairment globally is considered avoidable. - source WHO Indeed, a thought-provoking statistics this made Dr. Sachin Maskey think of doing something about this fact rather than just reading! And, he decided to begin with the Cure blindness program, one of those several programs which Dhana Yoga Foundation will be working upon. The aim of DYF is simple yet serious and that is to cure blindness within Nepal under its program by the name of “Cure Blindness”. Why is it necessary? Globally, it is estimated that approximately 1.3 billion people live with some form of distance or near vision impairment. With regards to distance vision, 188.5 million have the vision impairment, 217 million have moderate to severe vision impairment, and 36 million people are blind. According to the latest assessment, cataract is responsible for 51% of world blindness, which represents about 20 million people (2010) – Source WHO The figures are alarming with 62.2% of the blindness is caused just because of cataract in Nepal (Source-iapb.org) This must bother you as well that despite living in the 21st century the people are unable to avail medical facilities and right consultation which can transform their life? Yes, Cataract is a treatable disease but a common man is unaware of it and those who are aware did not have sufficient funds to get themselves treated and hence they are leading lives of a blind… Only with as minimum as $50 we can cure blindness… What we are doing? DYF is doing these mentioned activities: 1. Free Community Eye screening 2. Free Eye drops and other eye medicine 3. Free eyeglass distribution 4. School eye screening DYF will be partnering with the local hospitals in Nepal and will be conducting the free cataract surgery in the underserved areas of Nepal. DYF will conduct eye screening in remote areas of Nepal to identify the patient with cataract. Once identified the patient will be referred to the hospital where free cataract surgery will be performed on them. DYF will fund all the cost associated with cataract surgery including cataract screening, medication, and post-op care. Just 15 minutes of a procedure can give a new life to a blind How we are doing? DYF is associating with the local facilities, hospitals, medical institutes and even the clinics that are willing to join hands with Dhana Yoga Foundation in their mission to cure blindness. Under the Cure Blindness Program, we are seeking help from volunteers who can come forward and work with us. The cataract surgeries for curing blindness will be done at the local facilities of Nepal. Your small contribution of only $50 can make a blind see this world At the grassroots level? DYF will be able to conduct the eye screening camps for the underprivileged people of Nepal, at a regular interval of every 4-6 months. In these camps the aim is to identify the people who are blind due to cataract, and then the operation can be planned and performed for the low-income group people. This is an ongoing process and DYF will be collaborating with the several other hospitals in entire Nepal to provide a blind free life to the underprivileged people of Nepal. Further, for the screening of the eye blindness and the cataract, DYF will associate with the schools, where they can visit and screen the eyesight quality of the kids and timely diagnosis can be made for fighting blindness. “Close your eyes and think for a moment that you are not able to see again. Imagine life without sight… yes, it’s painful to imagine, right! Let’s transform lives by giving them a chance to see the world again...
